Summer Party 2021

Hurrah, at last! After three failed attempts at having an outdoor get together, the day finally arrived for our Summer Party and the weather was set to be dry at least. Penny had offered her beautiful garden for us all to gather for a Bring and Share supper, and with great organisation from Hannah a delicious spread arrived with our members.

Conversation flowed, over a celebratory welcome back glass of fizz, as many of us had not seen each other for more than a year. Emma briefly interrupted the chat to welcome everyone and to thank Penny for her hospitality and then Penny invited everyone to enjoy her hillside garden with wonderful views to admire, gorgeous borders, chickens and an impressive vegetable patch. A few hardy members even had a quick dip in the pool before supper!

Tables on the lawn set with lovely summer flowers were then enthusiastically filled for a delicious supper of fresh salads, quiches and coronation chicken followed by a fabulous spread of puddings. It was great to hear the buzz of conversation as everyone shared their lockdown stories and I’m happy to report there was plenty of laughter.

The evening drew to a close with a raffle and an invitation to join us back in the Village Hall for our September meeting.

Thank you so much Penny for sharing your beautiful home and garden and making this such a pleasurable evening. It was a real treat!
